Agreed totally !!

If one fails with heros, he need to consider improving himself first.

Heroes are your friends. Not to try and turn this into a "hero build vs. hero build" thread but Sabway is amazing. You'll also notice that all henchmen prot monks suck insane amounts (Redemptor Karl and Seaguard Gita come to mind), but 'insert monk hero here' can prot like there's no tomorrow. You'll learn to love the PvE mesmer when you can set up a hero to work the way you want it - handful of interrupts, empathy, backfire, etc. Personally if I'm not using Sabway I'm probably running with a prot monk, an interrupt mesmer, and a MM.

Heroes own. Hopefully you'll get Nightfall coming from Amazon soon, also don't know if it's still this way but Target had EotN for 10 bucks a couple months ago. It's at least worth checking into.

Edit: also as said, don't expect awesome heroes the first second you see them. If the sin is your only character it might seriously be worth looking into getting the skill packs from the Anet store.

[Good guild teams] > [Heroes with good builds] > [Henchmen] > [Heroes with bad builds] > [PuGs]

Pretty much sums it up.

Only if you PUG with idiots who spam Local with their LFGs, people who were run way past where they naturally should be, or people who demand to be off on the quest/mission/whatever as soon as the group's full instead of taking a moment to define roles, finding out who's done it before so they can lead (or at least point out) the way and point out which mobs can/should be avoided or pulled, making sure everyone's got a resurrection skill, etc...

Of course, you'll still end up with an idiot or two in each group (fairly inevitable :P), but it's not particularly hard to find a PUG that's decent enough to successfully complete the task at hand. (unless you're the type who demands Master's on every mission attempt or thinks that it's an utter failure if someone dies)
